Liverpool agree personal terms with England World Cup star

Liverpool are preparing for a new era under Andoni Iraola following a summer of significant changes at Anfield.

The Reds endured a disappointing campaign last season and responded by appointing Iraola as their new head coach. Several key players have also left the club.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson departed at the end of their contracts, while Ibrahima Konate completed a move to Real Madrid.

Those exits created major gaps within Liverpool’s squad, particularly in defence. As a result, the club continue exploring options to strengthen the back line ahead of the new season.

Liverpool have already secured an agreement for highly-rated defender Jeremy Jacquet. Meanwhile, Giovanni Leoni continues recovering from an ACL injury.

However, another familiar face could soon return to Anfield. According to the Liverpool ECHO, Liverpool have agreed personal terms with England defender Jarell Quansah.

The centre-back currently represents Bayer Leverkusen after leaving Liverpool in 2025 in search of regular first-team football. The Reds received £35M when Quansah joined the Bundesliga side.

However, the Reds inserted a buy-back clause into the agreement. That clause reportedly allows Liverpool to re-sign the defender for £55M.

The report claims Quansah has already agreed his side of a potential return. Liverpool must now decide whether to activate the clause and complete the deal.

Quansah enjoyed an impressive campaign in Germany. The England international made 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
