Aston Villa star agrees personal terms with Juventus

Aston Villa are among the clubs planning for next season after an impressive 2025-26 campaign.

The World Cup may dominate the headlines, but Premier League clubs continue working behind the scenes on summer transfer business. Aston Villa are among the clubs planning for next season after an impressive 2025-26 campaign.

Unai Emery guided Villa to Europa League glory and a fourth-place finish in the Premier League. Those achievements secured Champions League football and strengthened the club’s position ahead of the summer window.

However, Villa still need to manage their finances carefully. The club could sanction several departures as they look to comply with Premier League and UEFA financial regulations.

One player attracting significant attention is goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Argentina international remains part of his country’s World Cup squad as they attempt to defend their world title.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Martinez has already reached a general agreement on a three-year contract with Juventus.

The Italian giants recently explored a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. However, Liverpool showed no interest in selling the Brazilian this summer.

As a result, Juventus shifted their focus towards Martinez. The report claims Aston Villa want £8.5M plus add-ons to approve a deal.

However, Juventus hope to lower the overall package before entering advanced negotiations. Martinez remains under contract at Villa Park until 2029 after signing a long-term extension in 2024.

The experienced goalkeeper almost left the club last summer when Manchester United considered a move before signing Senne Lammens instead.

Martinez stayed and continued as Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper. He made 44 appearances in all competitions during the campaign.

Reports have previously suggested Villa could consider offers because of his £230,000-per-week salary. Even so, the club remain in a strong negotiating position.

Martinez still has several years left on his contract and remains one of the most experienced goalkeepers in European football.

For now, Martinez remains focused on the World Cup while discussions surrounding his future continue in the background.
