Jose Mourinho has wasted little time shaping his plans after returning to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese manager has started identifying the players he believes can strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
Real Madrid continue to look for ways to build on their current group. As a result, the club have already started exploring several opportunities in the transfer market.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are entering a new chapter of their own. Pep Guardiola’s departure has created uncertainty around several senior players.
The Premier League giants are also preparing for life under Enzo Maresca. The new manager faces the task of maintaining City’s standards while keeping hold of key figures within the squad.
Recent changes have increased the importance of several experienced players. The departure of John Stones has left Manchester City relying even more heavily on their established defensive leaders.
Against that backdrop, Real Madrid have now turned their attention towards one of City’s most influential stars. They have already signed Bernardo Silva on a free transfer.
Now, according to the Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid to sign Ruben Dias this summer, with Florentino Perez preparing an initial offer for the Manchester City defender.
The Spanish giants are reportedly growing increasingly confident that they can convince Dias to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mourinho has made the Portuguese international one of his primary transfer targets and wants him to form a partnership with Antonio Rudiger.
Dias joined Manchester City from Benfica in a £60 million deal in 2020. Since arriving in England, he has helped the club win 11 major trophies, including the Treble in 2023.
Dias remains under contract until 2028, but reports suggest he could consider a new challenge after achieving significant success in Manchester.
For now, the defender remains focused on Portugal’s World Cup campaign. Nevertheless, the prospect of joining Real Madrid could prove difficult to ignore if the Spanish club formalise their interest.
