Everton are looking to take another step forward under David Moyes this summer. The Toffees enjoyed a much more comfortable campaign after several difficult seasons.
Relegation concerns never seriously threatened the club this time around. Instead, attention gradually shifted towards a possible push for European football.
Although Everton fell short of that objective, there is growing optimism around the club. Supporters believe further investment could help bridge the gap next season.
As a result, Everton continue to explore opportunities in the transfer market. Several names have emerged as potential targets in recent weeks.
However, one possible deal has generated significant excitement among supporters. According to Sportsboom, Everton are in advanced talks to bring John Stones back to the club.
The England international is currently a free agent following his departure from Manchester City. That situation has opened the door for Everton to pursue a remarkable reunion.
Stones originally left Goodison Park in 2016 when he joined Manchester City. The defender then enjoyed an extraordinary period of success at the Etihad Stadium.
During his ten years with City, Stones won 19 major trophies. His collection includes six Premier League titles. The centre-back also established himself as a key player for England.
Despite recent injury setbacks, he remains an important figure for the national team. Stones is currently with England at the World Cup and hopes to play a major role during the tournament.
Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to surround his club future. The report claims Everton are becoming increasingly confident of completing a deal.
However, interest from Serie A clubs and Bayern Munich continues to surround the experienced defender. Even so, Everton appear determined to push ahead.
If an agreement is reached, John Stones would return to the club where his Premier League journey first began. It would also become one of Everton’s most eye-catching signings in recent years.
