Real Madrid are determined to leave last season’s disappointment behind after enduring a frustrating 2025-26 campaign.
Missing out on both domestic and European honours prompted significant changes at the Santiago Bernabéu, with the club quickly reshaping its squad during the summer transfer window.
Seeking an immediate return to the top, Real Madrid appointed Jose Mourinho for a second spell as manager before moving aggressively in the transfer market.
The club completed the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, while Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate also arrived as free agents.
Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries could follow, and talks continue for Alessandro Bastoni and Enzo Fernandez. However, recruitment has not been limited to new arrivals.
The club also face important decisions over the futures of several established stars, with Vinicius Junior‘s contract becoming one of the biggest talking points.
The Brazilian remains fully focused on his World Cup commitments and has returned to his best form during the tournament.
Nevertheless, he has not renewed his contract, leaving uncertainty over his long-term future at the club. According to El Nacional, Vinicius’ priority remains staying at Real Madrid.
However, he is demanding a significant salary increase alongside a €60 million signing bonus before committing to a new deal.
With his current contract running until 2027, he is under no pressure to rush a decision.
As a result, Real Madrid have already started identifying possible replacements if they fail to reach an agreement.
The first name under consideration was Michael Olise. Bayern Munich’s star had emerged as an attractive option, although the German club are unwilling to sell their French star.
That has forced Real Madrid to consider other alternatives, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also emerging as a leading candidate.
The Georgian played a vital role for Paris Saint-Germain after arriving under Luis Enrique.
Now, the report claims he has doubts about his role if both Yan Diomandé and Maghnes Akliouche arrive in Paris.
However, securing Kvaratskhelia would prove even more difficult. The report states that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has no intention of negotiating his departure.
According to Le Parisien (via El Nacional), only the inclusion of Vinicius Junior in the deal would make PSG reconsider their stance.
For now, Vinicius remains focused on extending his stay at Real Madrid. Even so, the uncertainty surrounding his contract has already forced the Spanish giants to prepare contingency plans.
