Tottenham Hotspur have approached the summer transfer window with a clear objective after narrowly avoiding relegation during the 2025–26 Premier League season.
Roberto De Zerbi has already overseen significant changes as the club attempts to rebuild the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Spurs have strengthened key areas by signing Jan Paul van de Hecke and completing an £85 million move for Mateus Fernandes.
However, the club have also accepted that not every player will remain part of De Zerbi’s long-term plans.
One situation quickly became difficult to resolve after Tottenham could not guarantee regular first-team football because of strong competition in central defence.
Luka Vuskovic rejected the possibility of another loan spell and instead made it clear that he wanted either a starting role or a permanent transfer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton have now agreed a deal to sign Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian journalist reported that the agreement includes a fixed £46 million fee plus a sell-on clause, taking the overall package beyond £50 million.
Brighton eventually secured the agreement after Tottenham rejected earlier offers worth £30 million and £45 million.
The Seagulls finally convinced Spurs by increasing their proposal and including a lucrative sell-on clause as part of the package.
Vuskovic also chose Brighton after receiving assurances over immediate first-team football under Fabian Hürzeler.
The defender has already agreed a long-term contract and will complete his medical once Croatia’s World Cup campaign comes to an end.
