Kylian Mbappe continued to enhance his remarkable World Cup legacy during the tournament in North America this summer.
The France captain led Les Bleus to the semi-finals and broke Olivier Giroud’s record to become his country’s all-time leading goalscorer.
In doing so, Mbappe also moved onto 20 World Cup goals in just 21 appearances across three tournaments.
That came after another demanding season with Real Madrid, with the forward once again carrying much of the attacking responsibility for club and country.
However, Mbappe’s attention has not only been focused on matters on the pitch in recent years.
The France international remains heavily involved with Stade Malherbe Caen. He acquired an 80% majority stake in the club through Coalition Capital in 2024.
The investment holds personal importance for Kylian Mbappe, who came close to joining Caen’s academy before choosing Monaco as a teenager.
He has continued to follow the club closely and even made personal visits following their relegation from Ligue 2.
Caen eventually finished eighth in the Championnat National under Gael Clichy after a difficult campaign both on and off the pitch.
Now, the club’s owners have moved to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
Stade Malherbe Caen officially announced the signing of Fahd El Khoumisti on a free transfer following the striker’s impressive spell with US Orleans.
The 33-year-old arrives with a reputation as one of the division’s most reliable goalscorers.
El Khoumisti finished as the National league’s top scorer in both 2023 and 2025. He was also included in the Team of the Year in each of the last two seasons.
Across 165 appearances in the division, he has scored 85 goals and provided 17 assists.
Caen described the striker as one of the most prolific forwards in the league and welcomed him to Normandy.
The club will now hope his experience and goals can help them improve on last season’s eighth-place finish.
