Pedro Porro’s performances have placed him among the most sought-after defenders in Europe this summer. Several leading clubs have monitored the Tottenham Hotspur full-back after his impressive campaign for club and country.
Barcelona have been linked with the Spain international, while Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest. Even so, the Spurs remain in a strong position.
The North London club recently handed the defender a new contract until 2031. Spurs have also made it clear they value him highly after another strong season under Roberto De Zerbi.
That has left plenty of speculation over whether the World Cup winner could still leave before the transfer window closes.
However, speaking during a reception in his hometown of Don Benito, Pedro Porro confirmed he will remain at Tottenham despite the transfer interest.
The Spain international admitted the past two months had been “crazy” after winning the World Cup, but insisted his ambition remains as strong as ever. Porro said (via Mundo Deportivo):
“There’s still a lot to do. I’m a very ambitious player and I’m always eager to learn a little more. Anyone who knows me knows I’m going for more.”
The defender also ended the speculation surrounding his immediate future. ‘I’m very happy’ at Tottenham, Pedro Porro said, before adding that he will now ‘disconnect for a few days and come back stronger.’
Although he refused to rule out returning to Spanish football one day, he stressed that his full focus remains on his current club.
For now, Tottenham have received the answer they wanted. Their first-choice right-back has publicly committed his future, despite attracting interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs.
