Paris Saint-Germain eye shock move for Chelsea star

Luis Enrique now wants more competition on the right side of defence.

Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed another historic campaign under Luis Enrique last season. They won a fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title and retained the Champions League crown.

PSG also lifted the Trophee des Champions, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The French champions have since focused on reshaping their squad.

Goncalo Ramos joined AC Milan for €74 million, while Lee Kang-in moved to Atletico Madrid for €40 million. Gabriel Moscardo and Renato Marin also left on loan.

PSG have added Marco Asensio and Alessandro Longoni to Luis Enrique’s squad. However, the club continue to explore further additions before the transfer window closes. Maghnes Akliouche and Ferran Torres remain among their attacking targets.

Their preseason preparations are also gathering pace. Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos have returned to full training at the Poissy complex.

PSG will face Mallorca and Manchester United before beginning a demanding competitive schedule.

Luis Enrique now wants more competition on the right side of defence. Achraf Hakimi remains the first choice, but PSG are considering another specialist option.

According to The Sun, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Malo Gusto from Chelsea this summer.

The report states that Luis Enrique has approved a potential move for the France international. PSG officials believe Gusto could provide strong competition for Hakimi at right-back.

However, Chelsea want £75 million for the 23-year-old. PSG are now assessing whether Gusto’s profile justifies such a significant investment.

Gusto has fallen further down Chelsea’s pecking order following Marco Palestra’s £43 million arrival from Atalanta. Chelsea also need to sell players as they work to comply with financial regulations.

The Blues have already sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £47.5 million. They have also agreed a £26 million deal with Como for Trevoh Chalobah.

Manchester City also showed interest in Gusto earlier this summer. Enzo Maresca knows the defender from their time together at Chelsea and wants a reunion.

For now, PSG remain interested but have not made an offer. Chelsea’s £75 million valuation represents the biggest obstacle to any deal.
