Tottenham Hotspur star set to join Inter Milan

Tottenham have considerable depth across their defensive positions.

Tottenham Hotspur could sanction another first-team departure as Roberto De Zerbi continues reshaping his squad before the new Premier League season.

Spurs have already made major changes following a difficult 2025–26 campaign, when they narrowly avoided relegation after finishing 17th.

The north London club have responded with significant investment during the summer window.

However, several players have also departed, and another member of De Zerbi’s squad could now leave for Serie A.

Tottenham have considerable depth across their defensive positions following their summer business.

Pedro Porro remains the preferred option at right-back, while Destiny Udogie has established himself on the opposite side.

Andy Robertson’s arrival has increased competition at left-back, while Archie Gray can also provide cover on the right when required.

According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are now in talks with Inter Milan over a deal for Djed Spence worth around €30 million, with the defender keen on completing the move.

Inter are searching for a new right-back after selling Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid. Spence’s ability to operate on either side of defence makes him an attractive option for the Serie A champions.

The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough in 2022 in a deal worth up to £20 million.

His early spell in north London proved difficult, leading to loan moves with Rennes, Leeds United and Genoa.

Spence eventually established himself in Tottenham’s first-team squad and played an important role during their 2024–25 Europa League-winning campaign.

His performances also earned him an England debut before he later featured at the 2026 World Cup.

However, Tottenham’s increased defensive depth could restrict his opportunities this season, particularly without European football.

Inter have therefore emerged as a realistic destination, with negotiations now underway and Spence understood to favour the switch to Italy.
