Aston Villa are preparing for another season of Champions League football after an outstanding 2025-26 campaign under Unai Emery.
The Villans finished fourth in the Premier League with 65 points and also lifted the Europa League. They defeated Freiburg 3-0 in the final to end their long wait for a major trophy.
Villa have since experienced considerable squad turnover during the summer transfer window. Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne have all departed, while several new players have arrived.
Joao Gomes and Johan Manzambi are among those recruited, while Alejandro Garnacho has joined on loan.
Villa have also strengthened at left-back by bringing in Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid.
However, Emery’s side are continuing to explore further additions before the window closes, and another attacking option has now emerged in Italy.
According to Sportmediaset (via TuttomercatoWeb), Aston Villa have made an enquiry about signing Jonathan David from Juventus.
The Premier League club have reportedly made an enquiry to understand whether a deal would be feasible.
Juventus could be open to selling the Canadian forward as they look to raise funds for their own transfer plans.
The Italian giants need greater financial flexibility as they attempt to satisfy Luciano Spalletti’s demands for another striker.
David endured a difficult debut season in Serie A after arriving from Lille. He scored on his league debut in a 2-0 victory over Parma but subsequently experienced a lengthy goal drought.
The forward also struggled for regular opportunities under Igor Tudor. His situation gradually improved after Spalletti replaced Tudor in October 2025.
For Villa, adding another forward would provide Emery with greater attacking depth ahead of a demanding campaign involving both domestic and Champions League football.
