Tottenham Hotspur endured a disastrous 2025-26 Premier League campaign and only secured their top-flight status on the final day.
Spurs went through three different managers before appointing Roberto De Zerbi in late March. The Italian eventually guided them to a 17th-place finish, narrowly avoiding relegation.
As a result, Tottenham have responded aggressively during the summer transfer window, spending over £230 million to rebuild De Zerbi’s squad.
They signed Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for £100 million before adding Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million. Jan Paul van Hecke also arrived from Brighton for £52 million.
However, Tottenham have also allowed several departures as they reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign.
According to David Ornstein from The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have accepted an offer from Juventus for Guglielmo Vicario, with all parties expecting the transfer to go through.
Juventus have agreed a loan deal which includes an option to make the move permanent. However, the transfer has not yet been completed.
The Italian giants turned their attention elsewhere after deciding against proceeding with a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez following talks between the clubs.
Vicario joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 for around €20 million. The Italian immediately became their first-choice goalkeeper.
He has since made 117 appearances across all competitions and recorded 29 clean sheets.
The 29-year-old also started Tottenham’s Europa League final victory in May last year as Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy.
However, Vicario struggled with errors during the following campaign and underwent hernia surgery after playing 43 games.
Antonin Kinsky replaced him and retained the number one position even after Vicario returned for Tottenham’s final two matches.
Therefore, a move to Juventus would take Vicario back to Italy, where he spent his entire club career before joining Tottenham.
