Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for another major transfer move after completely reshaping their squad this summer.
Roberto De Zerbi has overseen an aggressive rebuild following Spurs’ disastrous 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Tottenham finished 17th last season and narrowly avoided relegation after De Zerbi arrived late in March.
The club responded by spending heavily, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes among their major summer arrivals.
However, Tottenham have also sanctioned several departures while continuing to rebuild their squad before the new season.
Guglielmo Vicario has agreed a move to Juventus after losing his place in the Tottenham starting line-up.
That impending departure has pushed Spurs towards the market as De Zerbi considers another experienced goalkeeping option.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The 33-year-old helped Villa finish fourth in the Premier League and win the Europa League last season.
Martinez then started every match for Argentina during their run to the 2026 World Cup final.
Argentina eventually lost 1-0 to Spain after extra time, despite Martinez making 11 saves in the final.
His Aston Villa future has since become uncertain following another major development during the summer transfer window.
Villa have signed Zion Suzuki, and they expect the Japan international to become their new first-choice goalkeeper.
Football Insider reports that Aston Villa are therefore open to selling Martinez before the transfer window closes.
Tottenham could now provide another Premier League destination after Juventus previously explored a move for the Argentine.
Martinez has spent six years with Villa and made 257 appearances during that period.
With Vicario heading towards Juventus, Spurs could now move quickly to bring the World Cup finalist to North London.
