After securing Champions League football last season and winning the Carabao Cup, Newcastle United are looking forward to having a successful season once again.

However, Eddie Howe believes that having Alexander Isak to lead the line is the most important for his success.

Last season, the Swedish international scored 23 Premier League goals and became the second-highest goal scorer in the league.

But, after such a breakthrough season, Isak wanted to move to a new club where he could consistently fight for the biggest prizes.

In came Liverpool, the Premier League champions, with a massive offer that would break the British transfer record.

But the answer from Newcastle was short and simple: Alexander Isak was not for sale.

Yet, Eddie Howe and Newcastle management knew the desire of the player. That is why they were already looking for his replacement.

At first, everyone thought that they were looking for a striker to play alongside Isak.

However, after the frustration of not getting Alexander Isak, Liverpool went on to sign the player Newcastle wanted to sign, Hugo Ekitike.

But after Liverpool got the Ekitike deal over the line, Isak’s stance has become clear. He wants to leave St. James’ Park.

Eddie Howe is not even taking him to the preseason tour in Asia. He is publicly stating that the player has a minor injury, but we all know the truth.

Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs has come out and revealed that Newcastle United are trying to agree personal terms with Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian striker is also on the radar of Manchester United. It is now quite evident that Alexander Isak is adamant to leave.

Liverpool might place an offer of £120 million for the striker, which is below the £150 million valuation of PIF.

With Isak wanting to leave and Newcastle close to agreeing personal terms with Benjamin Sesko, this could be the golden opportunity Liverpool need to get the Alexander Isak deal over the line.
