Alexander Isak might be on his way out of St James’ Park.
The Swedish forward has not travelled with the Newcastle United squad for their pre-season tour.
Official word from the club says he is recovering from a minor injury. But behind the scenes, the story feels different.
According to reports, Isak is pushing for a summer move. Sources suggest he wants a fresh start, with Liverpool now watching closely.
That sudden twist has left Newcastle scrambling for solutions. They have been targeting several forwards this season.
Eddie Howe’s men wanted Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, but both went to Chelsea. After this, Newcastle set their sight on Hugo Ekitike.
But the Eintracht Frankfurt striker is on his way to Liverpool.
Now they have set their sights on one of the hottest young strikers in Europe, Benjamin Sesko.
The RB Leipzig forward has been on Newcastle’s radar for some time. But now, with Isak looking increasingly unsettled, the interest has turned serious.
At just 22, Sesko has been steadily rising in the Bundesliga. But Newcastle are not alone in the chase.
Manchester United have been following him for over a year.
Their concern with Rasmus Hojlund’s inconsistent form has brought Sesko back as their target.
After securing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Ruben Amorim is desperate to add Sesko to his squad.
The situation could now spark a battle. According to The Athletic, Newcastle consider Sesko their top target if Isak leaves. But the deal will not be easy.
RB Leipzig want around €70 million for the Slovenian striker. And with United already spending big on Bryan Mbeumo, the financial stakes keep rising.
Newcastle’s plan is clear. If Isak departs, they are going all in on Sesko.
But with another Premier League giant involved, things could move fast and get interesting.
