Last week, Manchester City produced a statement victory with a 4-0 thrashing of Wolves.
New signing Tijjani Reijnders impressed, whilst fellow new addition Rayan Ait-Nouri played well vs his old club.
Meanwhile, James Trafford kept a clean sheet in his first game since returning to the club.
However, it has been outgoings that have been bigger news stories than incomings at The Etihad.
Pep Guardiola has made no secret of the fact he prefers to have a small squad at his disposal.
The likes of Ederson and Manuel Akanji have been linked with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray.
Other players have been linked away too, with Savio being of interest to Spurs.
However, a new name has popped up when it comes to outgoings.
According to reliable ITK and Everton fan The Bobble, Everton are working on a deal to sign Nathan Ake.
This despite the aforementioned possibility of fellow defender Manuel Akanji joining Galatasaray.
During the win over Wolves, Ake remained an unused sub – despite Josko Gvardiol being injured.
Ait-Nouri was preferred at left-back, and Pep went with a centre back duo of Ruben Dias and John Stones.
Nevertheless, it would feel a little surprising if both Ake and Akanji were allowed to leave.
As we know, Stones is very injury prone, and Gvardiol has played at left-back a number of times.
That said, there is Abdukodir Khusanov, who came on instead of both Ake and Akanji on Saturday.
As for Everton, this would be a very good signing.
With Jarrad Branthwaite injured, David Moyes had to start Michael Keane during the defeat at Leeds United.
This is not the first nor second time Branthwaite has been injured either, so there is a need for another body in there.
Plus, Ake could start at left-back too – it’s unlikely that Adam Aznou is going to be a guaranteed starter every single week.
Everton simply cannot have Keane starting games for them in the English Premier League in 25/26.
Moyes said earlier on in this window that he still wanted several more signings. This could certainly be one of them.
Like many other players, in a World Cup year, he will be wanting to play consistent games.
There is some serious strength in depth for the Netherlands in his position, so it is important he plays regularly – as good as he is.
He will certainly play every week at Everton.
One to keep an eye on, for sure.
