Liverpool have been very fast in getting deals over the line this summer. They signed Florian Wirtz with a record fee.
The Reds paid a whopping £100 million upfront and will pay £16 million in add-ons to Bayer Leverkusen, which makes Wirtz the most expensive player in the history of British football.
After Wirtz, they signed Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Milos Kerkez to challenge Andy Robertson for the left-back position.
Apart from these, Liverpool also signed a striker in Hugo Ekitike and a defender in Giovanni Leoni. Also, the Reds sold players like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez in big-money moves.
Most clubs would be done by the business Liverpool have done so far in the market. However, this is Liverpool under Arne Slot, the Premier League champions.
Arne Slot wants to sign Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi before wrapping up their transfer business.
The Isak to Liverpool deal is now getting trickier as Newcastle United are still struggling to find a replacement for the Swedish striker.
Liverpool are still hanging on with a hope of getting this deal over the line. The same is for the Marc Guehi deal.
However, unlike Isak’s deal, Liverpool are expected to face competition from Manchester City for the Marc Guehi transfer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Marc Guehi wants to join Liverpool and is not budging by the interest from the Citizens.
The Reds are still in direct talks with Crystal Palace to get this Marc Guehi to Liverpool deal over the line. But Palace are proving to be a tough team to negotiate with.
That is why Liverpool have decided that if they cannot find a solution this summer, then they will wait till next summer.
By then, Marc Guehi will be a free agent, and the Reds will not have to pay any transfer fee to Crystal Palace.
Liverpool are ready to do to Palace what Real Madrid did to them when they signed Trent Alexander-Arnold.
🚨 Despite reports on Man City and more clubs, Marc Guehi situation has not changed: Liverpool is his favorite destination.
Guehi wants #LFC, talks still ongoing for deal to happen before end of the window.
