Not often a manager who has won a European trophy will be on the verge of getting sacked by the club.
However, when the team performs miserably and finishes just above the relegation zone, there will be consequences.
Things are getting more chaotic at Tottenham Hotspur. Their boss Ange Postecoglou is still in the dark about his future at the club.
The Australian manager will be leaving for a holiday without knowing whether he will be back as the Spurs manager.
Prior to their success in the UEFA Europa League, Tottenham won the League Cup way back in 2008.
So, a trophy after 17 years has put the fans in delirium. The victory parade with their Europa League trophy is a testament to what it means to their fans.
After the parade, Postecoglu will be leaving for a holiday. The expectation was there would be clarity about his status before he leaves for holiday.
Unless he won the Europa League, Spurs would have announced his sacking by now.
However, with the win against Manchester United in Bilbao, the tables have turned.
Those fans who were in favour of sacking the Australian are now having second thoughts.
The same thing is happening within the Spurs board. Before or after the parade, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levi was expected to provide an update.
However, he gave a cryptic message that has left everyone wondering what lies in the future for Ange Postecoglou.
According to Ben Jacobs, the reality is Tottenham chairman is yet to take the final call about sacking Ange Postecoglou.
That is the reason why he is delaying any announcement regarding the matter. At the parade, he hinted that the next season will be better.
So, it seems the Spurs might back Ange to deliver next season. However, if they don’t, they already have options to replace the Australian.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank is the leading contender in case Tottenham decide to sack Ange Postecoglou.
Ange Postecoglou has gone on holiday without clarity over his Spurs future. Daniel Levy to decide imminently whether to continue with the Spurs boss, who said at the #UEL parade, “In all the best TV series, season three is better than season two.” 📺
