It looked like Chelsea had this deal under their control. It was only a matter of time before the deal would get over the line.

But from nowhere, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the fray and are now favourites to sign the Chelsea target.

Chelsea have quite a few deals that they want to get over the line before Monday’s transfer window deadline day.

The Blues are progressing well in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho. But they wanted to sign another forward.

The player they were targeting also chose them. Chelsea were in direct talks with the player’s club. But they are yet to place a bid for the player.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have jumped the queue and already placed a bid in front of the club and the bid is closer to their valuation of the player.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Spurs are now in pole position to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Chelsea wanted to sign Xavi Simons from the beginning of the transfer window. RB Leipzig wanted a fee of around €70 million.

As per the reports from the German journalist, the bid that Tottenham have placed is quite close to the valuation of Leipzig.

Now, the Bundesliga club are waiting for Chelsea to submit a bid. Also, Xavi Simons is in London right now to understand where he will play next.

With only a few days left in the transfer market, this saga is nearing its final stages.
