Manchester United under Ruben Amorim have hit a new low when the 4th division side Grimsby Town eliminated them from the Carabao Cup in the second round.
United are now realising how not signing a good goalkeeper summer can be costly for them. They conceded two goals, and Andre Onana was at fault for both of those goals.
They will now accelerate their pursuit of Senne Lemmens from Royal Antwerp. The Red Devils initially wanted to sign Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma.
But due to their high price, United were unable to get the signing they wanted. The reason for that is the lack of sales.
After missing out on Europe last season due to their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, Amorim knew that United needed to sell players to get their targets in.
So, the Portuguese boss created a bomb squad consisting of players that he wants to sell. However, apart from Marcus Rashford leaving on loan, United have failed to get rid of those players so far.
Now, it looks like another player is on his way out of the club, which will bring some money to the club to sign a new goalkeeper.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea deal is now in the final stages. Garnacho had already agreed on personal terms with the Blues.
Since falling out with Amorim, the Argentine international only wanted to join Chelsea. He had offers from Bundesliga giants like Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
Also, Al-Nassr were interested in signing the winger. But he rejected all those offers for Chelsea.
With the final few days left before the transfer window shuts, the Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea deal looks like it will get over the line in time.
