Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool this summer to join Real Madrid. The Los Blancos paid €10 million to get him out of the Liverpool contract and have him during the Club World Cup.
The English right-back started his Real Madrid career wonderfully at the Club World Cup. However, things are not going as planned for the 26-year-old.
As Transfer News Live reported earlier, Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be Real Madrid’s first-choice right-back. Dani Carvajal is set to take his position after returning from injury.
This has prompted Alexander-Arnold to rethink his decision to join Real Madrid. After signing for the Los Blacos, Trent Alexander-Arnold said the following;
“Thank you both to President Florentino Perez and to Real Madrid for this opportunity. Signing for a club like Real Madrid doesn’t happen every day. It’s a dream come true. I’m very happy and proud to be here. I’m really looking forward to showing my game to the Madrid fans.”
Liverpool fans were not happy as they felt that their academy graduate had betrayed them. As per reports, Alexander-Arnold is looking for a way back to the Premier League.
Manchester City have been tipped to be his next destination if he considers leaving Real Madrid. It doesn’t look like he will get a good amount of game time at Santiago Bernabeu.
With the World Cup taking place next year, Trent Alexander-Arnold would need game time to be ready for England.
That is why he might look for a move back to England. Well, there is one thing that will surely happen, and that is the former Liverpool right-back will return to Anfield.
As the Champions League took place a few hours back, Liverpool are set to meet Real Madrid at Anfield in the league phase of the competition.
So, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be back at Anfield, and it will be interesting to see how Liverpool fans will welcome him back. Will they be cordial or hostile? Only time will tell.
