Bayer Leverkusen have decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag just two months after being appointed as their manager to replace Xabi Alonso.
The German club had a poor start to their Bundesliga campaign. After winning the DFB Pokal game, Leverkusen started their Bundesliga campaign with a loss to Hoffenheim.
However, in the next game against Werder Bremen, Erik ten Hag’s side drew 3-3. After the game, rumours started spreading that the Dutch boss will get axed by the Leverkusen board.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news that Bayer Levekusen have sacked Erik ten Hag just a couple of months after taking charge at the club.
This comes as a surprise because the Leverkusen board has backed the Dutch manager in the summer.
Ten Hag brought in the kind of players he would want to have. However, the results were not up to the mark.
Also, the performance of the players was not satisfactory. The Bayer Leverkusen board did not see a future under Erik ten Hag.
After winning the DFB Pokal and the Bundesliga in the 2023-24 season, they wanted to replicate that success under Ten Hag.
Last year, they finished 2nd in the Bundesliga table. And, the most successful manager in Leverkusen’s recent history, Xabi Alonso, left the club to manage Real Madrid.
So, the German club brought in Erik ten Hag, who was also sacked by Manchester United last year.
However, the Dutch manager has been sacked once again on the deadline day of the transfer window.
Now, it will be interesting to see who gets the job at the BayArena after Ten Hag.
