Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur experienced contrasting starts after both clubs invested significantly during the summer transfer window.
The defending champions won four of their opening five Premier League matches before suffering a setback against Brighton.
Mikel Arteta strengthened his squad with Bruno Guimaraes for £75 million, while Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis also arrived.
Tottenham spent heavily on their rebuild but remain without a Premier League victory after five matches.
Roberto De Zerbi welcomed several major additions, including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke and Savio.
Despite their different starts, the north London rivals are now assessing the same emerging Bundesliga talent.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza.
Both clubs have watched the 20-year-old this season as they continue assessing his development and potential availability.
Maza has established himself as an attacking midfield option for Leverkusen and has already registered a goal and an assist this season.
His performances have also attracted attention from several other Premier League clubs, creating further competition for his signature.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa remain interested after previously monitoring the Algeria international’s development.
Maza has also strengthened his reputation through his performances at international level with Algeria.
The Berlin-born midfielder scored and provided an assist during Algeria’s recent 3-1 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory over Zambia.
Arsenal and Tottenham have yet to make a formal move, with both clubs currently assessing the midfielder’s progress.
However, their increased interest places them alongside several Premier League rivals already monitoring the Leverkusen youngster.
Maza’s performances for club and country could therefore continue attracting attention as Arsenal and Tottenham consider their future transfer plans.
