Arsenal are already planning another ambitious summer after ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta still wants to strengthen key areas of the squad before next season begins. The Gunners enjoyed a remarkable campaign across multiple competitions.
Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy and also reached both the Carabao Cup final and the Champions League final.
Despite that success, Arteta wants more depth and energy inside the squad as the club attempts to build a long-term dynasty.
Midfield remains one of the areas Arsenal could still strengthen during the current transfer window.
Declan Rice played a huge role throughout the season and now heads into the World Cup after another physically demanding campaign.
Therefore, Arsenal are exploring younger midfield options capable of adding quality immediately while also developing into long-term starters.
Myles Lewis-Skelly featured increasingly in midfield during the closing stages of the season, while Max Dowman also impressed when called upon.
However, Arsenal still want another high-potential midfielder capable of fitting Arteta’s tactical demands. That search has now led the club towards Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ibrahim Maza.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal are interested in signing the Algerian international following his impressive campaign in Germany.
Maza enjoyed an outstanding season for Leverkusen and produced five goals alongside six assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
The 21-year-old also secured a place inside Algeria’s 26-man World Cup squad. He could now attract even more transfer attention during the tournament.
Arsenal will watch him closely throughout the competition. Meanwhile, Leverkusen also value the midfielder at around €50M in an attempt to discourage potential suitors.
Arteta reportedly views the Algerian as a player who could strengthen the squad now while eventually developing into an important midfield figure for the future.
