Tottenham Hotspur have already begun plotting the comeback.
After enduring one of the most forgettable campaigns in recent memory, one English club is desperate to make a statement.
And it appears their revival could be sparked by a familiar face; one with blistering pace, Premier League pedigree, and Champions League experience.
The North London outfit has been looking to inject quality and experience into their wide areas.
With their attack often looking toothless in key moments last season, the need for someone capable of unlocking defences has become urgent.
And now, as the transfer window approaches, the opportunity of a lifetime has landed at their doorstep; unexpected, but welcomed.
The player in question is no stranger to English football. Known for his electric runs, pin-point delivery, and ability to tilt games single-handedly, he once lit up the Etihad in sky blue.
But after four seasons in the Bundesliga, it seems the time is right for a return. The 29-year-old German winger has made his intentions clear; he is not staying in Munich.
With Bayern Munich offering him a contract extension on reduced terms, Leroy Sane has rejected the proposal.
As of July 1st, he becomes a free agent. Over the last few months, he has explored options quietly.
And now, through his trusted representative Pini Zahavi, he has reportedly offered himself to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Spurs did not hesitate when they heard the news. A player of such calibre, available on a free transfer, does not knock twice.
While nothing is signed yet, early talks have taken place and the move appeals to the player.
Having previously dazzled in England with Manchester City, Leroy Sane knows the league inside out.
And with Tottenham eager to reclaim lost ground, this reunion with English football may be just what both parties need.
As the days tick down to July, all eyes will be on what could become one of the smartest pieces of summer business.
