Newcastle United were one of the most talked about clubs this summer.
The long standing saga surrounding Alexander Isak dragged on for the entirety of the summer transfer window before the Swedish international secured his British record £125 million move to Liverpool.
They also saw Liverpool beat them to the services of Hugo Ekitike.
Just under £250 million was spent on player arrivals, including Nick Woltemade, Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa, Jacob Ramsey and Malick Thiaw.
Whilst they are in 11th place at time of writing, they could have been a lot higher had it not been for last gasp losses to Liverpool and Arsenal.
There is feeling that this Newcastle team is starting to grow since the departure of their main talisman, who had a large part to play in their first trophy lift in 70 years.
There is the addition of one proven Premier League player, with proven leadership skills, that could help Newcastle move up the table.
Newcastle United linked with £25 million January move for England international
According to reports, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is available for around £25 million in January with the club eager to ash in before his contract expiration allows him to leave on a free transfer.
Clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are all being tipped to make moves for the England international, as are Liverpool who had a free agreed on deadline day but could not the deal over the line.
Newcastle have long been admirers of the Palace captain, with a £65 million bid rejected in the summer of 2024.
Now they have a chance to get him for well below that initial value, they would be silly to seize at the opportunity to try and acquire for his services.
