Marcus Rashford has opened up about his future in Spain, giving a strong hint about what he wants after his loan spell with Barcelona ends.

The England forward joined the Blaugrana on a season-long deal from Manchester United this summer. He has made an impressive start to life under Hansi Flick.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa, but his move to Barcelona has completely transformed his form.

The Catalan side have the option to make his transfer permanent for €35 million (£30.3 million). And his performances so far are pushing that possibility closer.

Rashford has been in brilliant form in Europe. He has scored two braces in the Champions League, collecting four goals and one assist in just three games.

In La Liga, he has added one goal and 3 assists, taking his total contributions for the club to 9 already this season.

With that momentum, speculation has grown over whether Rashford wants to stay in Catalonia. The forward has now made his stance clear.

When asked if he would like to remain at Barcelona, Marcus Rashford told ESPN:

“Oh yeah, for sure. I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player is an honour.”

He also revealed that the move to Spain had been discussed before. Rashford said:

“It’s not the first time I spoke with Barcelona about potentially coming here, but for whatever reason it didn’t happen in the past and now is my opportunity to make it happen,”

For Rashford, the timing now feels right. The transfer he once missed out on has finally come true, and his start in Catalonia could make it permanent even after interest from another European giant.

All focus now shifts to El Clasico on Sunday. A strong display there could do more than just help his team. It might also bring him one step closer to making his Barcelona stay permanent.
