Eddie Howe told to quit Newcastle United

The pressure continues to mount at Newcastle United.

Newcastle United are in a great form in the Champions League. The Magpies have won 3 games out of 4 and are currently in sixth position in the table.

But the same cannot be said about their Premier League form. With 12 points in 11 games, Eddie Howe’s team sits at the 14th position in the table.

With losses to teams like West Ham United and Brentford, it is looking increasingly tough for the Magpies to secure a Champions League spot this season.

So, the pressure continues to mount at Newcastle United, and now one of English football’s biggest voices believes it is time for Eddie Howe to walk away.

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Newcastle’s hierarchy have “let down” their manager and urged Howe to consider quitting St James’ Park, possibly for the England job.

This Saturday marked Howe’s fourth anniversary in charge. Since arriving, he has guided the club from the bottom of the table to two Champions League qualifications and two Carabao Cup Finals.

He even ended their 70-year trophy drought last season. However, Carragher believes Howe has now reached his ceiling on Tyneside. The Liverpool legend told Sky Sports:

“He’s going to go down as one of Newcastle’s greatest managers, but I don’t think he can take them any further. I’ve said before he should be the next England manager. He’s the best English coach by a million miles.”

Furthermore, Carragher added that instability behind the scenes has made Howe’s job more difficult.

Newcastle have had three sporting directors in four years, with Ross Wilson now in the role after Paul Mitchell and Andy Howe’s departures.

The uncertainty, combined with PSR restrictions, has limited what Howe can do in the transfer market despite Saudi ownership wealth.

Still, Howe remains fully backed by chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and PIF, who have no plans to sack him. They continue to believe in his long-term vision for the club.
