Newcastle United thrown into disarray with surprise departures

Newcastle United are truly in disarray

Last season, Newcastle United secured Champions League football by finishing 5th in the Premier League table.

The Magpies are having a decent run in Europe. They won 2 of the 3 games, losing only to Barcelona due to a Marcus Rashford brace.

Next, they will face Athletic Bilbao, and a win will place them in a comfortable position in the Champions League table.

But the same cannot be said about their domestic run. The Magpies are in 13th position in the Premier League.

In 10 games so far, they have lost 4, drawn 3, and won 3. It will be hard for Eddie Howe to secure Champions League football next year if his team continues to perform like this.

After the kind of summer transfer window they had, it was obvious that the Magpies would struggle when the season began.

They sold Alexander Isak with a record-fee. Also, they replaced the Swede with a capable striker in Nick Woltemade, who is also scoring for fun.

However, they failed to sign players in other positions, something Eddie Howe needed badly this summer. Most players rejected Newcastle outright.

Also, the situation inside the club is not helping the Geordies either. Newcastle United are facing a turbulent week behind the scenes.

The club has confirmed multiple senior exits that have sent shockwaves through St. James’ Park.

The first major change involves the departure of a key figure who played a vital role in the Magpies’ commercial rise, the commercial chief, Peter Silverstone.

He is on a gardening leave and could be eyeing a move to Juventus. Also, the club’s CEO, Darren Eales, stepped down for health reasons, with David Hopkinson stepping into his place.

Furthermore, Chronicle Live reports that the club’s Director of People and Talent, Dominica O’Neil, can be leave too.

Also, Partnership Marketing Executive Joe Mack has reportedly left for Liverpool to take up a new role. So, Newcastle United are truly in disarray as the club looks for boardroom stability.
