In a rare moment, Jamie Carragher had to apologise for his misjudgement live on Sky Sports. Pundits don’t necessarily apologise live on TV.

Sometimes, they even defend their comments and get into a spat with existing players during post-match shows. The same thing happened between Wayne Rooney and Virgil van Dijk.

However, after the North London derby, Carragher was quick to realise his mistake and apologise for the mistake he made while judging a new Arsenal signing this summer.

Jamie Carragher admitted he got Eberechi Eze completely wrong after watching the Arsenal star destroy Tottenham in the north London derby.

Eze scored a brilliant hat-trick in Arsenal’s 4-1 win at the Emirates, and Carragher reacted live on Sky Sports.

Carragher explained that he doubted the signing when Arsenal paid £67.5million for Eze in August.

He thought Viktor Gyokeres was the only new arrival who would instantly improve the starting XI. He believed Eze came in only as backup for Martin Odegaard.

Eze proved him wrong. The 27-year-old now has five goals and three assists in 16 Arsenal games.

Carragher praised his quality and admitted his mistake on air. He said he underestimated how much impact Eze could make this season.

Carragher even said sorry while sitting next to Les Ferdinand, who knows Eze well. He told viewers that Eze looks good enough to help Arsenal win the Premier League title.

Arsenal now sit six points clear at the top of the table after their derby win. Eze’s performance has strengthened the belief inside the club that he can be one of the key players in their title chase.
