Olivier Glasner knows who is to blame for Crystal Palace’s poor form

Glasner said the pattern has become unavoidable.

Olivier Glasner was one of the favourites to replace Ruben Amorim as the Manchester United manager.

During that time, the Red Devils were on a poor run. And, if they lost to Sunderland, there were speculations that Glasner could have been in charge by now.

However, Ruben Amorim turned things around at Old Trafford. And, they are currently in seventh place.

Now, the situation is getting tight for Olivier Glasner at Crystal Palace. Back-to-back losses against Strasbourg and Manchester United have placed him under fire.

Now, the Palace boss has made it clear where the club went wrong this season.

After Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, the manager admitted the club failed to back him properly in the summer.

Thus, he was left with a thin squad to cope with both Premier League and Conference League demands.

Palace actually started well against United, even taking the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta’s twice-taken penalty. But the tone changed once Ismaila Sarr limped off.

With limited options on the bench and tired legs from Thursday night’s in Europe, Palace had no response when United fought back through Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.

Glasner said the pattern has become unavoidable. Palace have collected just one point from four league matches that followed European fixtures, and he finally felt it was time to say why.

“The energy level was not that high at the end. We missed the chance to strengthen the squad in the summer, and now we are facing it.”

He stressed that none of the blame lies with the players, insisting they “leave their heart on the pitch” despite fatigue and a relentless schedule.

But Glasner also made it clear the club must act in January, saying patience is not an option if Palace want real progress.
