Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool with high hopes. The Los Blancos believed that they were signing one of the best right-backs in the world.
Additionally, they wanted Trent to succeed Dani Carvajal. However, the start of his Madrid career has been rough.
Constant injury problems have prevented the England international from gaining any momentum since his departure from Merseyside.
Under Xabi Alonso at Madrid, Trent was hardly getting game time. However, since his departure, the 27-year-old seemed had a clean slate under the new manager Alvaro Arbeloa.
However, there were reports from Spain that Arbeloa has already told Trent Alexander-Arnold to look for a new club. And the Spanish manager was not backing him at all.
Since joining the club, Trent has made only 18 appearances for the Los Blancos. And he failed to impress whenever he was on the pitch.
That is why it seemed that the exit was on the cards for the English international. However, contradictory reports have emerged from the English media.
According to The Athletic, Trent Alexander-Arnold is an integral part of the Real Madrid project. So, they are not currently thinking about selling him.
The Daily Mail also echoed something similar previously. However, Trent needs to step up if he wants to have a future at Santiago Bernabeu.
If he cannot improve his performances on the pitch once he returns from injury, he will surely be on the market next summer, with English clubs already showing interest in him.
