Barcelona will have to make a massive decision next summer. Robert Lewandowski’s contract will expire in June. So, they have to decide whether they will let him leave or extend his deal.
Now, if they do let him, then they will be looking at Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid as his replacement. The former Manchester City star has been in prolific form this season.
Since leaving the Premier League club and joining the Spanish club, the Argentine has completely transformed his game. So far, he has made 95 appearances for Atletico Madrid.
Alvarez has scored 42 goals and 15 assists during his time in Spain. In his debut season for the Los Colchoneros, he scored 29 times in 58 appearances.
That is why multiple clubs from across Europe are tracking him. Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring his situation. However, there is one massive problem that most clubs will face.
Atletico Madrid are demanding a humongous fee for Julian Alvarez. That is why many clubs will not be able to sign him. The Argentine has a contract until 2030.
This surely puts Atletico in a strong position at the negotiation table. So, with the current financial condition, Barcelona will not be able to sign him.
So, they have set their sights on a Manchester City player. According to SPORT, Barcelona have set their sights on Omar Marmoush.
The Egyptian was on the radar of Barcelona before he made the move to the Premier League giants. He became one of the highest-scoring African players in Bundesliga history.
This season so far, he has made 24 appearances for the Citizens and scored only four times and assisted twice. Also, his 14 appearances this season were off the bench.
Yet, Manchester City have no intention to sell, and Barcelona are monitoring him.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it will be interesting to see whether the Catalan club make a move for Marmoush or not.
