Every season, a number of Premier League managers get sacked due to not meeting the expectations of clubs.
This season, already eight managers have lost their jobs, with Nottingham Forest firing three managers already this season.
But this time, one manager has received a driving ban after admitting a speeding offence. However, the incident dates back several months and only recently reached its legal conclusion.
According to The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been disqualified from driving for six months after being caught exceeding the speed limit in south London.
The 51-year-old Austrian was recorded travelling at 29mph in a 20mph zone on Old Kent Road in Bermondsey last July.
A speed camera captured Glasner driving his BMW along the busy road shortly before 7.30 am. Glasner entered a guilty plea through written correspondence to Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
The Crystal Palace manager acknowledged that he had exceeded the speed limit on July 15. A magistrate delivered the verdict last Tuesday, imposing a six-month driving ban.
Oliver Glasner was also ordered to pay a £660 fine along with additional costs. The offence occurred during a turbulent period for Crystal Palace.
Just days earlier, the club had learned its European qualification would be downgraded.
Despite winning the FA Cup in Glasner’s first full season at Selhurst Park, Palace were informed they would compete in the Europa Conference League rather than the Europa League.
Court records revealed that Glasner already had previous motoring offences. Once the new penalty points were applied, the total reached 12, triggering an automatic disqualification.
Initially, Glasner attempted to resolve the matter by paying a fine. However, court officials later determined that the additional points would lead to a driving ban.
The payment was refunded, and prosecutors issued a single justice notice instead. Glasner’s Crystal Palace will take on Tottenham Hotspur in their next Premier League clash.
