Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a muscle injury during the game against Al-Feyha in the Saudi Pro League. The Portuguese limped off the pitch and applied an ice pack while sitting on the bench.
Al-Nassr boss Jorge Jesus also confirmed the injury was much more severe than it was first assessed. He said (via The Sun):
“After tests, we see the injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo was more serious than expected.
“Cristiano will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured.
“His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team”.
Now, the Portuguese international is in Madrid for the treatment, and he is doing something bizarre to regain fitness in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
The USA, Canada, and Mexico will host the quadrennial tournament. And if Ronaldo plays in it for Portugal, then it will be his record sixth appearance in the global event.
Also, if Portugal wins the tournament, then Ronaldo will become the oldest player to lift the coveted trophy in the history of the competition.
However, the current muscle injury could have an impact on his participation in the tournament.
And that is why he is undergoing pressotherapy treatment so that he could save his dream of playing for Portugal for the sixth time in the World Cup.
The pressotherapy will help the 41-year-old with lymphatic drainage and reduce pain, along with detoxifying his body.
This season, Cristiano Ronaldo is continuing his prolific goal scoring form as he has netted 21 times in 22 games for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Nassr are leading the domestic league table by just two points from the second-placed Al-Ahli, and Ronaldo will hope to return as soon as possible to help his team win the league this season.
