Vincent Kompany was surely one of the greatest ever players for Manchester City. During his time with the Citizens, the Belgian has won multiple trophies.
Now, as the manager of Bayern Munich, he has already won the Bundesliga. In 72 games for the German club so far, he has already won 51 times.
Vincent Kompany is managing some of the best players at Bayern. Now, the former Manchester City captain has compared Michael Olise to one of the best Manchester City players in recent times.
The Bayern boss said in an interview when he was asked about Michael Olise (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
“Michael Olise came here with a mentality that gives him the chance to be one of the best players in the world.
“I don’t really want to compare players but I played with Kevin De Bruyne and was lucky to watch him come through as a young player then become a superstar. He had that obsession for detail. Michael Olise has that as well”
Kevin De Bruyne is one of the most decorated Manchester City players in recent history. The Belgian played for the Citizens more than 400 times.
He scored over 100 goals and assisted over 150 times for the Citizens. De Bruyne also won six Premier League titles for City.
Also, he was instrumental during City’s treble-winning campaign. Now, he left City to join Napoli last year and is currently playing for the Italian giants.
Now, Michael Olise has a long way to go to reach the level of De Bruyne. So far for Bayern, Olise has played 83 times. He scored 33 times and assisted 43 times.
However, as Kompany mentioned, with the kind of mentality he is showing, he could become one of the best players of the current generation.
Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in a €60 million move in 2024.
