Alessandro Bastoni under police investigation for alleged child prostitution

Bastoni will appear before prosecutors on Friday as authorities seek to clarify the allegations.

Alessandro Bastoni is under police investigation in Italy over allegations of child prostitution.

The Inter defender has received a formal notice of investigation and will appear for questioning on Friday.

The investigation centres on an alleged meeting in June 2020 with a girl who was under the age of 18 at the time.

As per prosecutors, the alleged contact dates back to June 2020. Investigators reconstructed it using conversations seized during the Made agency investigation.

Prosecutors allege the agency arranged parties for wealthy clients, including Serie A and Serie B footballers.

They claim the girl spent a night at Bastoni’s home after one of the agency’s employees organised the meeting.

According to investigators, messages exchanged with PR Antonio Salomone discussed the arrangements.

Prosecutors also cited chats about transport, a sushi dinner and the alleged meeting. Bastoni and Salomone are both under investigation in the case.

However, the investigation remains ongoing, and prosecutors have not reached any conclusions.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, the girl later confirmed she had been at Bastoni’s home. However, she denied having had sexual intercourse with the Inter defender.

Prosecutors will now examine further evidence during Friday’s questioning.

Bastoni’s lawyer strongly rejected the allegations, saying:

“My client is very shaken. I can rule out the possibility of him ever having paid sex, especially with minors.”

The investigation has also led authorities to request information from three other footballers. Daniel Maldini, Riccardo Calafiori and Kevin Bonifazi are not under investigation.

Investigators requested information after their names appeared in conversations reviewed during the inquiry.

From a sporting perspective, the Italian football federation’s prosecutor will request the case documents.

However, the report states that disciplinary action appears unlikely if the alleged incident is deemed unrelated to football.

The investigation continues, with Bastoni due to appear before prosecutors on Friday as authorities seek to clarify the allegations.
