Harry Kane has made his position clear since the start of the season. He is happy at Bayern Munich and has repeatedly hinted that he wants to stay beyond his current deal.

The striker has continued his remarkable form in Germany. That run stretches back to last season and includes the first major club trophy of his career.

Given his scoring record at Tottenham Hotspur, that achievement still feels surprising. Kane is currently under contract at Bayern Munich until June 2027.

There is a release clause in the deal, believed to be around €65 million, which could be activated next summer if a move were agreed.

However, that scenario now looks unlikely, as Bayern Munich have made a decision on the future of Harry Kane which might surprise many people.

According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Kane wants to extend his contract. Bayern share the same view.

There is no doubt on either side about the desire to continue the relationship. The only discussion point is the length of the extension.

Bayern are considering a new deal running until either 2028 or 2029. That would mean a one or two year extension on top of his current contract.

Kane will turn 33 this summer. Under normal circumstances, Bayern only offer one year extensions to players over 30.

However, like Robert Lewandowski before him, Kane is expected to be treated as an exception.

All signs now point towards Bayern moving ahead with talks. For Harry Kane, the intention to stay is no longer in doubt.
