Cristiano Ronaldo’s next goal will be to win the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo surprised every Portugal teammate who won the Nations League with him this summer. He even included Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident at 28.

The Liverpool forward passed away only weeks after lifting the trophy with Portugal, but Ronaldo made sure his family felt remembered.

Portuguese journalist Nuno Luz revealed on SIC that Ronaldo ordered luxury Jacob & Co watches for all 35 squad members.

Ronaldo had each watch customised with the player’s name and shirt number. When he reached Jota’s turn, he kept the tradition and sent the gift straight to the family.

Luz said moments like this show Ronaldo’s real personality, far from the image outsiders often assume.

Jacob & Co later showed the design online. The watch features a skeleton dial, a custom layout and the Portuguese coat of arms.

It is one of only 35 ever made. Similar models cost tens of thousands of pounds, and personalised versions can go far higher.

Cristiano Ronaldo earns around £200m a year at Al Nassr, but the gesture was clearly about emotion, not money.

Jota’s funeral took place days after his passing, with many teammates attending. Ronaldo could not be there, but this gesture spoke louder than any appearance.

Ronaldo spoke about his absence during an interview with Piers Morgan, saying:

“I don’t go out because, if I go, the attention goes to me. I don’t want this sort of attention.

“I don’t like it when you go to a sensitive moment to do interviews, to speak about him, to speak about football.

“People can continue to criticise. I felt good with my decision.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s next goal will be to win the World Cup next year and fulfil not only his dream but also Jota’s and the entire nation’s dream to lift he coveted trophy.
