Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set for a sensational return to English football after getting sacked by Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Erik ten Hag was the man who promised to bring those glory days back to Manchester United.
The Dutch manager did get some success at Manchester United. He joined the Red Devils in 2022. Before joining United, Ten Hag was a successful manager at Ajax.
In four seasons at Ajax, from 2017/18 to 2021/22, Ten Hag won 3 Eredivisie
titles, along with 2 Dutch cups and a Dutch Super Cup.
So, when he came to perhaps the biggest club in England, most people expected him to wake up the sleeping Red Devil. He did a similar thing at Ajax.
However, things didn’t go the way everyone expected. Well, before Ten Hag came in, United were trophyless for many seasons.
Under the Dutch manager, they won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. The Red Devils also played the 2023 FA Cup final.
However, by the start of the 2024/25 season, United were going through a massive structural change at the board level.
The uncertainty around the club reflected on the performance. So, Erik ten Hag got the sack mid-season in 2024. Since then, Ruben Amorim has been in charge of Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag returned to a managerial role this summer with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. But after just three official games, the German club decided to part ways with the Dutchman.
However, the 55-year-old is now eyeing a return to English football again. According to The Athletic, Erik ten Hag is one of the names being discussed around Wolves to become their next manager.
Also, there are names like Gary O’Neil and Brandon Rodgers who can also become their next manager.
However, the appointment of Erik ten Hag will draw more eyeballs to Wolves because of his past connection with Manchester United.
