Fulham set to appoint former Real Madrid manager as Marco Silva’s successor

Fulham want their next manager involved in recruitment decisions as they prepare for the new season.

Fulham are closing in on the appointment of a new manager following Marco Silva’s departure.

The Premier League club are eager to have a replacement in place as preparations for the new season continue.

The Cottagers face an important summer both on and off the pitch. Alongside appointing a new head coach, the club are also expected to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Several candidates have been considered for the vacancy in recent weeks. Fulham also looked at Kieran McKenna as a possible option.

But the former Ipswich Town manager decided to take a sabbatical from football management.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Fulham are continuing talks with Alvaro Arbeloa over becoming the club’s next manager.

Discussions have already taken place regarding a three-year contract and the structure of his backroom staff.

The report adds that Arbeloa is currently the favourite to replace Silva, although Fulham are still speaking with another candidate.

The former Liverpool defender recently managed Real Madrid on an interim basis after the Spanish giants replaced him with Jose Mourinho.

Arbeloa had initially stepped into the role after Real Madrid promoted him from within following Xabi Alonso’s departure.

Fulham are also seeking Arbeloa’s views on potential transfer targets as they plan for the future.

The club want their next manager involved in recruitment decisions as they prepare for the new season.

If Fulham can reach an agreement with Arbeloa, he could begin his first full managerial role in the Premier League.

The 43-year-old would face a significant challenge, but Fulham appear increasingly confident that he is the right man to lead the club forward.

For now, negotiations remain ongoing. However, Fulham’s discussions with Arbeloa suggest they are moving closer to appointing Marco Silva’s successor.
