Tottenham Hotspur manager Igor Tudor sparked a hilarious moment at Anfield. That moment quickly caught the attention of fans watching the match against Liverpool.
Spurs travelled to Merseyside under heavy pressure after a difficult start to Tudor’s spell in charge. The Croatian coach had already lost his first four matches since taking over the role.
That run included a damaging 5-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid, leaving Tottenham stuck in a serious relegation battle.
Transfer News Live already reported the Igor Tudor sack update after Atletico Madrid humiliated Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last 16 first leg.
But before Sunday’s clash at Anfield even kicked off, television cameras captured a moment that left supporters amused.
Tudor stood on the touchline during the pre-match build-up when he walked toward a bald man standing with his arms folded near the Tottenham dugout.
The Spurs boss tapped him on the shoulder and appeared ready to greet him with a handshake, which led some viewers to believe Tudor thought he was approaching Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
However, when the man turned around, it became clear that it was not Slot. The individual was actually Tottenham player liaison officer Allan Dixon.
Now, many fans believe that Dixon bears a striking resemblance to former goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
Dixon stood just in front of the Spurs bench when Tudor tapped him on the side and greeted him with a brief hug.
Dixon then tapped Tudor on the chest while the Tottenham manager smiled and played along with the moment.
Supporters noticed that Tudor then quickly looked toward the Liverpool bench before walking in that direction with his hand stretched out.
Although cameras did not clearly show the next interaction, Tudor and Arne Slot were later seen embracing before the match began.
Fans quickly reacted online once the clip circulated on social media. Despite the light-hearted moment before kick-off, the match itself proved tense.
Liverpool took the lead in the first half when Dominik Szoboszlai’s free-kick slipped past Guglielmo Vicario. But the goalkeeper did get a hand to the ball.
However, Tottenham managed to rescue a point when Richarlison scored a late equaliser, securing a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
After the game, Igor Tudor also snapped at a Sky Sports reporter during the post-match interview.
Igor Tudor really mistook his own player liaison officer for Arne Slot 😭
Thankfully he managed to find the Liverpool manager immediately after…
