Jamie Carragher is adding another chapter to his football career away from television screens.

The former Liverpool defender has become one of the biggest faces in football punditry since retiring from playing in 2013.

Carragher regularly appears on Sky Sports alongside Gary Neville and has also built a huge audience in the United States through CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.

Now, however, the Liverpool legend is stepping into a completely different role inside football. Non-league side Marine AFC have officially announced Carragher as a new club advisor.

The Crosby-based club currently compete in the National League North and have enjoyed a rapid rise in recent years.

Marine secured promotions in both 2022 and 2024 and also reached the FA Trophy semi-finals during an impressive period for the club.

They also famously faced Tottenham in the FA Cup third round during one of the biggest moments in the club’s history.

Carragher, who lives in Crosby, admitted he has closely followed Marine’s recent progress. The Liverpool legend said:

“Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go. I’ve enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years.”

Marine are also planning the construction of a new stadium as part of their long-term growth plans. Chief executive James Leary described Carragher’s arrival as a major moment for the club. He said:

“Jamie is someone who genuinely cares about football and the local community. His experience and relationships will be a huge help to the club.”

Carragher spent his entire playing career at Liverpool and made 737 appearances for the club before retiring in 2013.

During that period, he won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups at Anfield.
