Tottenham’s season has already been filled with frustration.

In the Premier League, Spurs have struggled to build momentum, with inconsistent performances leaving supporters increasingly anxious about the rest of their season.

European competition was supposed to offer a chance to reset the narrative.

A strong run in the Champions League could have restored belief around the squad and given fans something to rally behind.

Instead, another difficult night has raised fresh questions around the team.

Tottenham travelled to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League knowing the challenge that awaited them back home.

However, things quickly spiralled out of control during the early stages of the match.

Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky endured a nightmare start, with two costly errors allowing Atletico Madrid to take control of the game inside the opening minutes.

The Czech goalkeeper’s Champions League debut lasted just over a quarter of an hour before he was substituted following the mistakes.

Tottenham eventually lost 5-2, with the situation quickly sparking discussion among pundits watching the game.

Speaking on TNT Sports, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Joe Hart, criticised how the situation was handled.

Hart admitted he was “heartbroken” watching the moment unfold and questioned the way Spurs boss Igor Tudor dealt with the young goalkeeper during such a difficult spell.

The former Manchester City and England number one suggested the episode “reflected poorly on Tottenham’s management of the situation.”

For Tottenham, the focus will now shift to recovering from another painful European night, as they face relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, on Sunday.
