Liverpool were on a three-game losing streak when they went to the London Stadium to face West Ham United.
The Reds ended their streak with a victory over the Hammers. These losses have piled up the pressure on their current manager, Arne Slot.
The Dutchman replaced Jurgen Klopp and won the Premier League in his first season. This season, Liverpool decided to back Slot and spend around £450 million to build his squad.
The Reds were thinking about winning the Champions League and retaining the Premier League under Arne Slot.
They started the season strongly, as Liverpool won five back-to-back games. Before they faced Crystal Palace in the Premier League, they were at the top of the table.
Since then, Liverpool have played 8 Premier League games and lost six of them. They won only against Aston Villa and West Ham.
As a result, they are 9th in the league table. That is why Rio Ferdinand believes that a managerial change is on the Horizon at Anfield.
The former Manchester United defender took to social media to tell Liverpool club legend Steven Gerrard to get ready to take up the job of the interim boss after Arne Slot leaves. He said:
“‘Sharpen the tools and get them ready because you could be going back in as interim boss.’
“That’s what I was thinking.
“There was so many games coming up, I was just thinking I don’t see Slot getting through all of these games in good enough condition.
“And I think the pressure from the terraces and the fanbase might be too much and they might make a decision.
“In that climate someone like Steven Gerrard sitting there, a legend of the club, forget his tenures at different clubs.
“A legend at the football club ready to come in and steady the ship for them.
“I wouldn’t have been surprised if Steven Gerrard would have gotten a call.”
Liverpool will take on Sunderland in the Premier League in midweek. After that, on the weekend, they will travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United.
