Manuel Neuer is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, for sure. He joined Bayern Munich from FC Schalke 04 in 2011 for a fee of €30 million with add-ons.
The former German international has enjoyed a successful career with Bayern. He has won 12 Bundesliga titles and two Champions League titles.
Also, he won the FIFA World Cup with the German national team in 2014. He also won the Golden Glove award in that tournament.
His current contract with Bayern will expire at the end of this season. So, there are speculations about Neuer retiring after his contract ends with the German giants.
However, there are rumours of Neuer extending his contract as well. Now, the German goalkeeper has sat down to give an interview to the official Bundesliga website.
In that interview, Manuel Neuer opened up about his contract situation and future options. Here is what the Bayern Munich goalkeeper had to say in that interview:
“I’m not setting myself any targets. As I said, I live in the here and now, and I’m not thinking too much about it.
“I want to finish off this part of the season positively, and then we’ll go again in January and try to have a good start.
“We’ll play up until March until the first international break, and then we’ll take it from there.
“I can’t really answer that at the moment because I don’t really know that myself. A lot of things have to be right.
“My body has to be at a certain level that I am happy with and where I can deliver performances.
“Of course, the club plays a role in this decision too, so we will have to sit together and make a decision at some point.”
Manuel Neuer already retired from the German international team in 2024.
