Tottenham Hotspur are once again searching for a new manager. In the summer, they sacked Ange Postecoglou even after winning the Europa League.

After that, they appointed Thomas Frank, and after a dismal run of form, the Spurs finally decided to put an end to their misery and part ways with the Danish boss.

Now, one familiar name has been getting mentioned as the frontrunner to become the next manager of the Spurs, and his name is Maricio Pochettino.

The Argentine currently oversees the United States national team and prepares for a World Cup campaign on home soil this summer.

Meanwhile, just days after Frank’s dismissal following defeat to Newcastle United, Mauricio Pochettino appeared in London. Naturally, that sparked fresh debate.

However, the sighting came via social media. Mauricio Pochettino posted an Instagram story from a birthday celebration at a London restaurant.

There was no suggestion of talks with Tottenham’s hierarchy. Previously, Mauricio Pochettino has never hidden his affection for the club. In an interview with Sky Sports, he said:

“When I left the club I always remember one interview. I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham.

“I am in the USA, so I am not going to talk about that now – but what I said then I still, after six years or five years, feel in my heart. Yes, I would like one day to come back.”

However, signing Mauricio Pochettino will not be easy for Tottenham. The north London club might have to pay one of the biggest compensation fees in football history, as per various reports.

For context, Chelsea paid £21million to Brighton for Graham Potter. Mauricio Pochettino enjoyed one of his best spells as manager with Tottenham from 2014 to 2019.
