Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has established himself as one of the club’s most important players, with his performances also earning him a regular place in the England squad.

The 26-year-old has continued to attract attention for his performances in the Premier League, having become a key figure at the City Ground since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022.

However, the England international has now found himself in the headlines for matters away from football, following the conclusion of a court case relating to an incident earlier this year.

According to BBC News, Morgan Gibbs-White was caught on camera travelling through a red traffic light on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, on January 28.

Gibbs-White has been handed six penalty points on his driving licence and ordered to pay £1,044 after being convicted of failing to identify the driver of his Range Rover following a traffic offence.

The Range Rover reportedly crossed the lights 1.1 seconds after they had turned red.

However, the subsequent investigation became complicated when police discovered that the vehicle’s registration number differed by one letter from the details recorded with the DVLA.

Nottinghamshire Police issued an alert for the vehicle, which was eventually stopped by Staffordshire Police in April, confirming that it belonged to Gibbs-White.

Court documents revealed that the midfielder subsequently failed to respond to two police letters requesting confirmation of who had been driving at the time of the original incident.

He was convicted last Tuesday at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court of failing to provide the identity of a driver.

Gibbs-White received a £660 fine, alongside £120 in court costs and a £264 victim surcharge, bringing the total financial penalty to £1,044.

The case was dealt with under the Single Justice Procedure, with Gibbs-White reportedly entering neither a plea nor mitigation.

It is not the first time the Nottingham Forest star has faced consequences for driving offences.

In May 2025, Morgan Gibbs-White received a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding six times within three months. He was also ordered to pay almost £4,000 in financial penalties.

The latest court decision comes as Gibbs-White continues to represent both Nottingham Forest and England, having recently been included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the UEFA Nations League.
