Raheem Sterling admits dangerous driving

The former Manchester City and Liverpool player will return to court on 25 November for sentencing.

Raheem Sterling remains without a club after a difficult period that included his departure from Chelsea and a short spell in the Netherlands.

The 31-year-old left Chelsea in January before joining Feyenoord on a short-term contract for the remainder of last season.

However, Sterling made only eight appearances for the Eredivisie club before his contract expired.

His future on the pitch now remains uncertain, but the former England winger has appeared in court over an incident from May.

According to the BBC, Raheem Sterling admitted dangerous driving after crashing a Lamborghini into a metal gate near the M3.

Sterling appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to driving a Lamborghini Urus dangerously before the collision.

The driving took place across the M25, M3, A327 and Minley Road before the crash on 28 May.

The court heard that Sterling strayed into the motorway’s central reservation before hitting a metal gate in an A327 lay-by.

Hampshire Police previously confirmed that the incident involved only one vehicle and caused no reported injuries.

Sterling also admitted possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Police found him in possession of six canisters of nitrous oxide, which is classified as a Class C drug.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool player will return to court on 25 November for sentencing. Sterling has also been disqualified from driving until that hearing takes place.

His latest legal proceedings come during a period of uncertainty surrounding the next stage of his football career.

Sterling won four Premier League titles with Manchester City before joining Chelsea in 2022. He also spent one season on loan at Arsenal during his four years with Chelsea.

For now, Sterling remains a free agent after his brief spell with Feyenoord ended earlier this year.
