After a run of poor form, Tottenham Hotspur finally decided to sack Thomas Frank. They signed the Danish manager last summer from Brentford.
Now, only after eight months in charge, Tottenham decided to let Thomas Frank go.
Frank will leave the Spurs with an unwanted record. His win record in the Premier League was 26.9%, which is the worst by any Tottenham manager in the Premier League era.
However, he still guided the Spurs directly into the round of 16 of the Champions League. Overall, Frank was in charge for 38 games for Tottenham.
He won 13 games and lost 14 games. The Dane had 11 draws in his record as the Spurs boss. Currently, the north London side is struggling in 16th place, just five points above the relegation zone.
Thomas Frank signed a three-year deal when he joined the Spurs from Brentford. Tottenham paid £6.7 million to Brentford to sign the Danish manager.
His reported salary at Tottenham was £8 million. So, after sacking Frank within the first year of his three-year contract, The Lillywhites will have to pay a severance package to the Dane.
If they have agreed to pay his one-year salary, then his severance package would be around £8 million. However, the amount The Sun is reporting could be staggering.
The Spurs have already paid £6 million in salary to Thomas Frank. Now, his entire contract was worth £24 million. Thus, the Spurs might have to pay him £18 million to terminate his contract.
Last year, they had to pay £5 million to Ange Postecoglou as a severance package after sacking him. So, the Spurs will be taking a massive financial hit after sacking Thomas Frank.
